Self-Service Multi-Tenant Deployment Automation

AWS serverless orchestration reducing tenant provisioning from manual ops to ~2–5 minutes

Automated cloud provisioning workflow empowering non-technical sales and support staff to spin up isolated multi-tenant HRM application stacks and deploy updates at the click of a button.

1. Context & The Core Problem

A multi-tenant Laravel HRM platform onboarding new corporate clients required recurring engineering hours to manually provision isolated infrastructure, configure databases, assign subdomains and trigger releases.

The Bottleneck:Manual provisioning created bottlenecks: sales teams had to wait on engineers, releases carried human error risks, and onboarding cycles delayed client go-lives.

2. Engineering Solution & Implementation

Architected a serverless self-service pipeline where team members complete a form, triggering AWS Lambda orchestrators, CodeBuild runs, automated database seeding, and Cloudflare DNS automation without engineering intervention.

Direct Contributions & Ownership

  • Designed end-to-end serverless orchestration using AWS Lambda to ingest provisioning requests and coordinate cloud tasks.
  • Created standardized AWS CodeBuild buildspecs to automate multi-tenant Laravel migrations, environment configurations, and assets.
  • Integrated Cloudflare API to dynamically create tenant subdomains with SSL certificates instantly.
  • Configured least-privilege IAM policies, AWS Systems Manager (SSM) Parameter Store for encrypted credentials, and S3 artifact storage.

4. Outcomes & Verified Impact

Reduced tenant creation and software update turnarounds to approximately 2–5 minutes.

5. Key Challenges & Architectural Lessons

Engineering Challenges

  • •Ensuring zero downtime and rollback safety during automated database schema updates across active client tenants.
  • •Restricting IAM privileges strictly so automated pipelines operate safely without broad administrative rights.

Takeaways & Reflection

  • •Self-service tooling transforms operational bottlenecks faster than simply hiring more infrastructure staff.
  • •Clear conceptual boundaries between configuration (SSM) and execution (CodeBuild) makes troubleshooting serverless pipelines straightforward.
